Bio

Sofus is a composer, pianist, and performer based in Copenhagen (DK), working at the intersection of politics, activism, and art. His work is often inspired by questions such as: “How do we, as humans, learn?”, “How do we avoid learning about each other?”, and “Why do we develop prejudice?”.

These questions work both as a point of artistic exploration but also as artistic method. Can art create spaces where mechanisms of ignorance not only become objects of reflection but are also temporarily set aside? And what can these reflective spaces offer an audience?

He has collaborated with acclaimed ensembles, musicians, and performers; been featured at well-regarded national and international festivals; received commissions for large-scale productions; and worked with globally respected NGOs.

In addition to his career as a composer, Sofus is a critic for the acclaimed music magazine Seismograf, has hosted interviews and Q&As with notable composers, and volunteers as a chair member and organiser for the concert association Aarhus Unge Tonekunstnere.
